A Native Texan, Richard Sneed grew up in a family dedicated to appreciating music, and has been singing in school and church choirs, always for the simple joy of singing. While attending seminary at SMU, he had the good fortune of meeting Bonnie when scouting for new volleyball players for the dorm intramural team. However modest her athletic abilities, Richard recognized in Bonnie a rare musical talent, among other things, and he and Bonnie married in 1987. They subsequently attended Michigan State University and, after Bonnie got a job at UAH, Richard completed his doctorate in Early Medieval Philosophy at Florida State University. He returned to Huntsville to teach at various local colleges and sing in the UAH Choir, where he was generally referred to as “Dr. Richard”.
Richard sings 2nd Bass in NAVE, fulfills the role of Sound Guy for the various tours and concerts, and helps with Latin, Anglo-Saxon, and Russian translations and pronunciations.
He has two children, Andrew (who, like his father, earned the rank of Eagle Scout) and Shannon (who is a Soprano 2 in NAVE). Richard enjoys baseball, barbequing, playing Bridge, and annual Christmas trips to Sanibel Island, Florida, with The World’s Greatest Mother-In-Law.
